Highways
The Superintendent of Highways is charged
with the responsibility of maintaining all
the town roads in the Town of Lake Pleasant
and overseeing all the highway department
employees and operations. This includes,
but is not limited to, managing road repairs,
snow and ice removal, drainage systems,
street signage, town bridges, and culverts.
Additionally, the Town of Lake Pleasant,
under contract with the State of New York,
de-ices thirty-three lane miles of state
roads. The highway superintendent is elected
for a two-year term.
Solid Waste & Recycling
Under the "Special Refuse" portion
of the town budget, the highway superintendent
is charged with the responsibility of managing
curbside pickup of all household solid waste
and recycleables. While the town has no
operating landfill, it does contract with
Hamilton County to transfer its waste to
a DEC approved landfill in Rodman, NY. The
town transports its solid waste to the county
transfer station on Route 8 in Lake Pleasant,
about 6 miles west of the town hall.
Parks, Recreation, and Buildings
Under the "General Fund" portion
of the town budget, the highway superintendent
oversees the maintenance of recreational
trails, cemeteries, and all town buildings,
including the Nathan Littauer Primary Care
Center and Town of Lake Pleasant Public
Library.
