The Town Clerk’s office, your “doorway to local government”, is historical in its traditions, having served as a direct link between residents and their local governments, since Biblical times.


PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER dedicated to the community, informative, possess the ability to listen and advise, be receptive to new ideas, and be able to maintain a sense of humor while performing in a professional manner. This office is considered the center of local government.

RECORDING SECRETARY authors the minute books, the official record of Town government, which are retained permanently for legal and historic purposes.

RECORDING MANAGEMENT OFFICER has custody of all Town records, active files, storage, and disposition of inactive records. Carefully maintains all archival material. Is administrator of the Freedom of Information Law.

FILING OFFICER maintains records of adopted Town Ordinances, Local Laws, Oaths of Office, resignations, petitions, proof of publications, annual budgets, assessment rolls, fiscal reports, court actions, bonds/notes, zoning ordinances and maps. Files burial permits.

LICENSING OFFICER issues State licenses/permits, including marriage, dog, conservation (hunting and fishing) going out of business, games of chance/bingo and handicapped parking permits. Issues Town licenses/permits mandated by Local Law, (ex: garbage tags, peddlers, junk dealers, trailer parks, etc.)

ELECTION COORDINATOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH Federal and State regulations. Advising of vacancies, overseeing polling places and equipment, election inspectors. Oversees special Town elections, permissive or mandatory referendums and the Town acquisition of property.

CASH CONTROL OFFICER is responsible for numerous duties relating to billing, and the collection and disbursement of funds, to State, County and local fiscal officers. Contributes to budget preparation, general purchasing and internal audits.

REGISTRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS appointed to keep all birth and death records within a community, issuing birth and death certificates, burial permits, as well as conducting genealogical searches.

The Lake Pleasant Clerk’s office comes in contact with a diverse community of year-round residents, seasonal residents and tourists. We try to provide the public with various services offered by our office and the Town of Lake Pleasant. The Town Clerk now has four computers to serve in a timely and professional manner. There is also on-line service.

The Lake Pleasant Town Clerk’s office is a member of the New York State Town Clerks Association, which promotes professional development and encourages continuing education.
