The supervisor is the chief executive and financial officer of the town, head of the executive branch of town government, and a member of the county board of supervisors. The supervisor is responsible for all phases of town government, including planning, budgeting, handling day-to-day operations, and acting on behalf of the town board with other governmental agencies.

As a member of the town board, the supervisor has one vote and is elected for a two-year term. The town supervisor serves as chairperson of the town board, conducts town board meetings, public hearings, public information meetings, and special town board meetings as provided by New York State Town Law. In the absence of the town supervisor the deputy supervisor is fully empowered to act in all matters but does not have a vote on the county board of supervisors.

The Town of Lake Pleasant presently has 17 full-time employees and 28 part-time employees. The town supervisor must work closely with all department heads to coordinate town activities, deal with employee issues, provide direction in regard to the implementation of policies adopted by the town board, and to propose and investigate projects for consideration by the board.
